Introduction
Sigma Nu Fraternity was founded in 1869 at the Virginia Military Institute.
Our founders (Hopkins, Quarles, and Riley) founded Sigma Nu based on
the ideals of Love, Truth, and Honor. From these three founders the
fraternity has grown to over 250,000. The Eta Zeta chapter of Sigma Nu
was founded in 1961 at Louisiana Tech University. Staying true to our
ideals, the tradition of excellence is upheld by over 1,000 members.
Congratulations on your decision to attend Louisiana Tech University. The overall college experience has many facets, with fraternity rush being an important one. Sigma Nu prides itself in being a large group of men, diverse in talents, who bond through similar goals and values.
If you are looking for a fraternity that:
- Excels in athletics
- Has the best social calendar on campus
- Is involved in the university through campus leadership
- Holds religion to its highest standards
- Has the highest GPA as a fraternal organization.
Then Sigma Nu is the place for you.
Information
Sigma
Nu has dominated the campus as All Sports Champions for the last 27 out
of 29 years. In 2004, Sigma Nu won the coveted All Sports Trophy once
again. The competing events include sports from football to softball,
ping pong to archery, and golf to horseshoes. Sigma Nu has over 30
different teams from those who take the game seriously to those who are
just playing to have a good time.
Social Activities are
definitely a major part of the college career. Yearly our fraternity
has social activities ranging from parties at the house to White Rose
Formal in Florida. Bid Night, Homecoming, South of the Border, Polar
Party, Seven Seas, Christmas Party, Halloween Party, exchanges with
every sorority, not to mention spontaneous parties, are all vital parts
of our social activities. No matter what interest you have, Sigma Nu
has something to offer you. You will hear more of this year’s plans
during formal rush.
Academics are a major portion of Sigma Nu. The men of Sigma Nu have
held the honor of the best GPA on Louisiana Tech University Tech Campus
97 out of the last 120 quarters.
University Leadership is a characteristic also used in describing the
men of Sigma Nu. We have over 30% of our chapter involved with the
Student Advancement Team and two of our members serving as Orientation
Leaders this summer. The men of Sigma Nu serve as President of Omega,
members of Golden Key Honor Society, College of Republicans, Campus
Crusades, Union Board, Student Recruiters, and Alpha Epsilon Delta.
